Based on the division of stages under the National Education Policy, the Middle Stage involves Classes 6, 7 and 8. As the name suggests, students who are leaving childhood and moving on to adulthood i.e., adolescents are firmly yet delicately handled at this level. The teachers at the Middle Stage are especially adept in controlling the reins of the aggressive and drawing the coy out of their shyness.
At Holy Grace, students are engaged in activity-based learning and hands-on activities. The methodology includes student-conducted quizzes, seminars, teaching and peer learning through PPTs, discussions and debates. Activities such as role play, voice-overs, group work, model making, poster making, script writing and presentation and a plethora of art integrated activities and educational games make the learning process more entertaining and engaging.
As it is commonly known, the Middle Stage is bubbling with energy and innovative ideas. Budding artists, poets and authors find expression through the school magazine titled Gracealogue that is printed every year and dominated by paintings, articles, stories, riddles, reports and poems in English, Malayalam and Hindi by the students of the Middle Stage.
The study of French and German begins at the Middle Stage. In addition to opting for Malayalam and Hindi as a third language, students may also opt for French or German in place of the aforementioned languages which might go a long way in the choice of their careers in the future.
In order to enhance the communication and speaking skills of students, Holy Grace has adopted Cambridge English Training and Tests for the students which helps them to work on their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and also review their performance through graded tests.
Co-curricular ActivitiesThe training of Judo, Karate and Kungfu is provided to students of the Middle Stage during their Playtime. Such activities play a pivotal role in not only providing physical fitness, mental health and social skills but also training young people for self - defence.Through these activities students are also taught discipline, concentration, and stress reduction techniques.
The Radio Station at Holy Grace Radio is a unique and rare opportunity for all Middle Stage students to express themselves and their views. A majority of Middle Stage students function as RJs and Sound Editors and present various radio programs like Prayer songs, Interviews, Pod Casts, Comedy Shows, Rise and Shine Kerala, Recitations, Vocals, Instrumentals and Holy Grace updates.
The students of the Middle Stage are trained in specific skills modules, for instance, Culinary and Baking, Embroidery and Financial Literacy. At a tender age of 12 and 13, students are already equipped with life skills that enable them to face the challenges in life with more confidence and courage.
This splendid scheme, enriches students with new skills such as paper bag making and basket making. The products created are put up for sale and the proceeds handed over to the students.
The middle stage focuses on critical learning objectives, such as self-learning, reflection, confidence, and responsibility. It also helps students develop critical thinking abilities, personal values, and promotes holistic development.
